The Ligaments of the Wrist Joint model from Erler-Zimmer shows the wrist with its ligamentous apparatus and the carpal tunnel. It reproduces the palmar and dorsal ligaments between the forearm, carpus and metacarpus and makes their courses visible in three dimensions. The Retinaculum flexorum spans the carpal tunnel and is clearly recognisable on the model. As an anatomical wrist model, it serves to illustrate structure and function.

The model is used in physiotherapy and occupational therapy training, in hand therapy and in patient consultation. It helps to explain ligament guidance, joint stability and the narrowness of the carpal tunnel. For information before or after hand surgery, the ligaments of the wrist joint provide a clear basis.

  • anatomical model of the wrist with ligamentous apparatus and carpal tunnel
  • palmar ligaments such as Lig. radiocarpale palmare and Lig. ulnocarpale palmare
  • dorsal ligaments of the carpus and metacarpus depicted
  • Retinaculum flexorum clearly visible over the carpal tunnel
  • illustrates ligament guidance and joint stability of the hand
  • suitable for hand therapy, training and consultation

A purely ligamentous model puts ligaments and the carpal tunnel to the fore, whereas a skeleton model shows the bone structure and a combined model additionally shows tendons and nerves. To explain ligament injuries and the narrowness of the carpal tunnel, this depiction of the ligamentous apparatus is the fitting choice. During a consultation, the model is easy to pick up and handle.

At saneq the ligaments of the wrist joint model is available for teaching and consultation in Switzerland.
