Pneumatic tyres absorb shocks but require care. When a rollator with pneumatic tyres is worthwhile, when puncture-proof wheels are sufficient, and what to watch out for with air pressure and on the go.

Pneumatic tyres can absorb shocks. It is crucial that your rollator is intended for the respective path; according to DIETZ, the TAiMA XC may only be used on firm, even surfaces. Pneumatic tyres require the correct air pressure and can get punctures. Puncture-proof wheels do not need to be inflated. Nevertheless, check wheels, brakes, and fittings according to the user manual. This guide helps you choose the right tyres for your routes.

Pneumatic tyres or puncture-proof wheels: the comparison
Puncture-proof tyres do not require air filling. This also includes soft PU tyres. In our range, only the TAiMA XC from DIETZ has pneumatic tyres; all other models use puncture-proof wheels. The TAiMA XC is available with pneumatic tyres or puncture-proof PU tyres. The two versions also differ in width and weight:

When pneumatic tyres are worthwhile
You regularly walk longer distances outdoors and want to absorb shocks. The prerequisite is that the paths are suitable for your model.
Shocks in your hands and arms are unpleasant for you.
You or someone close to you can check the air pressure and help with a puncture.
When puncture-proof wheels are sufficient
You are mainly on asphalt, in the neighbourhood, and in shops.
You also use the rollator indoors and want to avoid air pressure checks.
No one can regularly check the air pressure, or a puncture on the way would be a big problem for you.
Assess wheel size and tyres together
Large wheels roll more easily over joints, grooves, and small edges than small ones. The ZQP also recommends larger wheels with a grippy profile for outdoors. The table shows the wheels of our models designed for outdoor paths:
Values according to the manufacturer. The TAiMA M-GT has a steering damper and weighs 5.8 kg according to manufacturer information. The TAiMA models XC and M-GT have a tipping aid that allows you to lift the front wheels over a kerb. Have their safe use demonstrated to you.
Air pressure, care, and punctures
Air pressure: For the TAiMA XC Air, DIETZ specifies 1.8 to 2.1 bar (26 to 30 psi). Other models may have different values; the user manual is decisive.
Signs of low air pressure: The rollator becomes harder to push or the front wheels no longer run straight.
Before each trip: According to DIETZ, check that the brakes work, the folding lock is engaged, and all parts are secure.
Puncture: If you have a flat tyre or noticeable driving behaviour, do not continue your journey with the defective rollator. Arrange for assistance and have the cause fixed at a specialist shop. DIETZ offers replacement wheels for the TAiMA XC.
Maintenance: The ZQP recommends having the rollator serviced at a specialist shop at least once a year.
Safe on the move with the rollator
Slopes: Use downhill paths only within the limits of the user manual. Be ready to brake and choose another path if you cannot control the rollator safely.
Kerbs: Choose the flattest possible spot or lift the front wheels with the tipping aid.
Bus: Board in the multi-purpose area. Engage the brakes firmly and sit quickly on a passenger seat. Hold the rollator firmly even with the brakes engaged and ask for help if you cannot do this yourself. Never sit on the rollator in the bus.
Darkness: Bright or reflective clothing and clearly visible reflectors on the rollator help others see you.

The manufacturer specifies this. For the TAiMA XC Air, DIETZ specifies 1.8 to 2.1 bar. The user manual for your version is decisive.
Not generally. Driving comfort depends, among other things, on tyres, air pressure, wheel size, and surface. Pneumatic tyres require pressure checks and can get punctures.
Large wheels do not make a rollator all-terrain. According to DIETZ, the TAiMA XC may only be used on firm, even surfaces. Follow the user manual for your model.
Not necessarily. Both versions of the TAiMA XC are rated for up to 150 kg including payload. The specification for your model is decisive.
