The Erler-Zimmer child's pelvis model reproduces the pelvis of an average five-year-old child. The age was determined from the pattern of tooth eruption and the developmental stage of the individual bones. The pubis, ilium and ischium are still completely separate, while the ischiopubic ramus is approaching fusion, which occurs between the ages of five and eight.

The model is aimed at osteology, anthropology and medical training. It suits teaching on skeletal development in childhood and anyone who wants to study the not-yet-fused pelvic bones on the original.

  • pelvis from the skeleton of an average five-year-old child
  • age evidenced by tooth eruption and bone development
  • pubis, ilium and ischium still completely separate
  • ischiopubic ramus shortly before fusion
  • sex characteristics of the pelvis appear only from puberty
  • compact osteological study object, roughly 10 x 15 cm

As an osteological study object, this pelvis model shows how the individual bone centres behave during growth. The still-open ischiopubic ramus makes clear why sex determination from a child's pelvis is not possible. Anyone who wants to document or teach skeletal maturity has a datable reference piece here.

At saneq you can order this child's pelvis model for anatomy and osteology teaching.
