The Erler-Zimmer Osteoporosis Femur is an anatomical model that places a healthy thigh bone directly next to one affected by osteoporosis. In each case the upper half of the femur is shown, with the osteoporotic bone displaying a severely damaged structure and a fracture. Cast from nature at original size, this anatomical model makes bone loss immediately visible and easy to grasp.
In the practice the model supports patient education; in training it illustrates how osteoporosis progresses. Doctors, physiotherapists, nursing staff and lecturers use it to explain the changes within the bone clearly to those affected.
- natural cast at original size, direct comparison of healthy and osteoporotic bone
- the osteoporotic half shows a damaged structure and a fracture
- depicts the upper half of the femur
- mounted on a stand, removable and dismountable
- a telling aid for patient consultations and teaching
- robust build for repeated use in the practice
The model comes on a stand from which it detaches, and it comes apart so the individual sections of the bone can be examined more closely. It needs little desk space, and the natural cast reproduces the surface structure true to life.
At saneq, practices and training institutions across Switzerland source anatomical models for teaching and patient advice.
