Ultrasound probe
The Sonopuls 490 from Enraf-Nonius is an ultrasound therapy device from the 4 series that covers a broad range of applications. It works at 1 MHz and 3 MHz and runs with a small or a large treatment head, so the right application is available for many pathologies. It holds 25 evidence-based protocols for ultrasound therapy. A colour touchscreen guides operation intuitively.
The device is aimed at physiotherapy, rehabilitation and sports medicine. Thanks to optional battery operation, it can be used flexibly at the bedside, at home or in the sports changing room.
- Ultrasound therapy at 1 MHz and 3 MHz for superficial and deeper structures
- Choice between a small and a large treatment head
- 25 evidence-based protocols as a starting point for treatment
- Contact control function for even energy transfer
- Colour touchscreen with a scratch-resistant TFT display
- Optional battery operation for location-independent use
Head size follows the treatment area: the small 0.8 cm² head suits fingers, hand and small spots, the large 5 cm² head suits extensive muscle groups. Anyone wanting to cover both combines the two heads. The frequency setting governs how deeply the ultrasound acts.
saneq advises practices in Switzerland on the Sonopuls 490 and the right head configuration.
Large muscle groups on the back, thigh or shoulder can be treated efficiently with the 5 cm² ultrasound applicator. The larger emission surface covers more tissue per pass, thereby reducing the treatment time for extensive areas. Practices specialising in sports physiotherapy or rehabilitation usually choose this version as their standard applicator.
